Hiking Trails in Green Lake Wisconsin
The following are the best trails around Green Lake for a morning or afternoon of hiking fun.
Daycholah Lookout
Located at 361 Lake Street (the corner of Lake Street & Illinois Avenue).
From this vantage point you’ll see native plantings, a meandering path, memorial benches, and stunning lake views.
Dawson Prairie
Dawson Prairie encompasses 54 acres of restored land. Mowed trails wind through over 100 species of native grasses and wildflowers, blooming late spring through September. Abundant wildlife including deer, birds and butterflies inhabit the prairie.
Hammer's Trail
A .6 mile public trail located within the Assembly Creek and Springs conservancy property built in memory of Brian Hamming. Walk the trail and enjoy its beautiful surroundings as your time permits. See aerial map at the right.
Winnebago Trail Reserve
See map at right, transfer of ownership to the Green Lake Sanitary District will take place in the not too distant future. Signage on the trail will be up once the change in ownership takes place.
Prairie Trail
Located off Hwy. 23 on the Green Lake Conference Center grounds.
Wander through native prairie while viewing diverse plantings complete with blooming flowers from late spring through September. Get maps of the area at the Green Lake Chamber Office and Roger Williams Inn (Green Lake Conference Center). There is an entrance fee at the gate to get onto the grounds.
Snake Creek Wetlands Trail
Located off St. Marie Road & Swamp Road between Princeton Road and Co Hwy J.
Take a leisurely walk through a rare and breathtaking habitat. Trail head stands are located at both entrances. Further information and a map are available at the Chamber Office.
Heidel Hike
Located off of Illinois Ave in Highknocker Park.
Enjoy prime views of nature via the woods, complete with mile markers to gauge your progress, and benches so you can take five.
Zobel Park
Located one mile north on Hwy 49.
Enjoy a luxurious hiking experience by walking the mowed trails winding throughout these dramatic woods.
