On July 5, 1935 City Park in West Bend was dedicated. It included a sand swimming beach, bath house, bandstand, food stand and a restroom. In 1952, the City of West Bend renamed City Park to Henry O. Regner Park in honor of the man who, despite the Great Depression, had the vision and commitment to create the first public park in West Bend. In 2010, we celebrate Regner Park’s 75th anniversary.

Over 50 community members and organizations have come forward so far to help plan free activities for children and families, featuring the unique areas of Regner Park, throughout this summer and culminating in a free weekend celebration on July 30, 31 & August 1, called “Celebrate Regner”. There will be two different music entertainment stages, a large children’s game and entertainment area, West Bend area restaurants, a Classic Car show, pie and ice cream social, free swimming and Rotary Splash pad use and a special effects show, to name just some of the activities.

Because of the excitement generated by the Regner Park improvements, namely the new Open-Air pavilion and the Marie and Orville Strachota Bandstand, Celebrate Regner will be a great way to bring families together to enjoy the improved amenities of Regner Park and celebrate the spirit of community, even in these similar economic times to the origin of the Park.
